A person behind the numbers

World-class experience.
Personal attention.

I’m Sam. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and earned my accounting degree at Linfield University. My career began in hands-on accounting and grew into finance leadership.

Over more than 15 years, I’ve worked with small businesses and global household names, managed billion-dollar budgets, and built accounting and finance teams from the ground up. Years of audits and rigorous financial controls shaped how I work: carefully, consistently, and with attention to the details.

I also know what it’s like to start with a spreadsheet and wonder what it’s telling you. I bring that same discipline to your books—and explain what the numbers mean in plain language.

The partnership behind Lone Pine

Different strengths. The same care.

My wife brings more than 12 years of accounting experience in a multinational company, including accounts payable and receivable, complex reconciliations, corporate credit cards, and journal entries.

Together, we run a small, part-time practice that combines her accounting expertise with my finance perspective. You work directly with us, with a scope and communication rhythm agreed up front.

Outside of work, we’re usually on a Central Oregon trail or watching and coaching our kids at a ball field.

A simple place to start

One conversation.
A clear next step.

01

Let’s talk.

Tell me about your business, your books, and where you’d like help.

02

Make a plan.

We’ll agree on the work, pricing, and next steps before we begin.

03

Get moving.

We’ll arrange access to your records and start with the priorities we’ve agreed on.

Before we get started

Good questions.

Do I need to be in Central Oregon?

No. We’re based in Bend and work remotely through video calls, email, and shared accounting tools.

What if my books are several months behind?

That’s a great reason to reach out—no judgment. We’ll review your records, identify what needs attention, and agree on a cleanup plan.

Which accounting software do you work with?

We have experience with QuickBooks, Zoho Books, and Wave, as well as Sage, Oracle, and Acumatica. We adapt well to new tools—at the end of the day, it’s all debits and credits. Tell us what you use, and we’ll discuss the fit.

How much does bookkeeping cost?

Pricing depends on transaction volume, account complexity, and the support you need. You’ll know the scope and cost before we start.

Do you offer tax preparation or payroll?

Not at this time. I’m not a licensed CPA, and our practice doesn’t offer tax preparation or payroll. We keep your records organized so your tax provider has the information they need.
